Family-Friendly Cruise Lines

Cruises provide unforgettable vacations for the entire family, with plenty to do for the little ones all the way up through to the adults.

Here are some family-friendly cruises sure to create cherished memories for years to come:

Disney

One of the most frequently asked for names in children’s entertainment is Disney, and that’s no different when it comes to cruise lines. Disney Cruises is bustling with everybody’s favorite characters casually hanging out onboard. You’ll also find exciting activities, like pirate-themed dinners and nighttime firework shows, along with age-appropriate kids clubs, water slides, and adults-only dining areas.

While Disney cruises may be a little more expensive, you’ll come home with a smile after one of these “magical” cruises.

Royal Caribbean

Perfect for kids of all ages and multigenerational travel, Royal Caribbean’s fleet offers a variety of amenities for the entire family. Depending upon the particular ship, you might get rock climbing walls, indoor parades, ice skating rinks, zip lines, bumper cars, or even waterslides. All feature nightly adult entertainment, age-appropriate kids clubs, and amazing dining options.

Norwegian

This cruise line has a casual atmosphere perfect for families who don’t want to adhere to strict dining times or stuffy dress codes. Features include water parks, rock climbing and repelling walls, climbing cages, and bowling lanes. Adults can spend some time at the casino or spa while kids participate in any of the many kids clubs, karaoke sing-a-longs, arts & crafts projects, or climbing a massive jungle gym.

Carnival

Kids on this line tend to be drawn to two places: WaterWorks and SportsSquare. The former offers hours upon hours of wet fun via waterslides, soakers, sprayers, and a splash area for the little ones. SportsSquare has plenty of play areas, including mini-golf courses, basketball courts, and foosball tables. There are also movie theaters, rope courses, casinos, and adults-only retreats.

Celebrity

If you’re looking for a luxurious family cruise, Celebrity is for you. Although some cruise lines cater to kids first and foremost, Celebrity is dedicated to the entire family, ensuring there are plenty of kid-friendly spaces and escapes just for the adults. One of their most unique features? The grass lawn on the top deck. We recommend picnicking there to watch a golden sunset at sea.

MSC

MSC has plenty for the entire family, from the tikes to tweens, teens and adults, alike. Whether you’re looking for kids/teen clubs or a baby nursery with certified caretakers, this ship is equipped (see what we did there) with all the services you need, so you can whisk your significant other away for a date night. Activities include bowling, tennis courts, mini-golf courses, video game arcades, race car simulators, and water parks. There is also nightly entertainment, including Cirque du Soleil at Sea.

Princess

Princess cruise ships include many fabulous experiences, such as Movies Under the Stars, when blockbusters are displayed after sunset on the top deck; a laser shooting range, and batting cages. There are also cooking classes, age-appropriate kids clubs, and now that Princess is partnered up with Discovery Communications, everything from Shark Week-themed games to Big Foot excursions and hands-on “Mythbuster” challenges.

The Disney Magic

We were so excited to get back on a cruise ship again, which we did the end of January 2023, and we were especially excited since it was our first time on the Disney Magic! We headed to the Port of Galveston to hop aboard this four night cruise to Progresso, Mexico....

The Best Cruise Line

We are often asked which is the best cruise line. Well, it all depends on you. Ok, so you think that's a non-answer. But think about it, not everyone enjoys the same things you do. Some people like tons of active activities like swimming, water slides, basketball,...

Book a Cruise Now? or Wait?

Let me first explain that while I am a Travel Advisor, and I get paid commission for helping you book your cruise (or hotel, or resort stay, or well...), I want you to have the information you need to decide what vacation will be best for you. I don't want you to come...

COVID-19 “Vaccines” and Travel

To Cruise or Not to Cruise, That Is the Question

It seems that just when you think you know the rules, everything changes again. If you are like me, you want to get on a cruise ship. I prefer to not cruise in the summer, so I'm not planning to cruise anytime real soon. However, I sometimes wonder when I should...

In Memory of Gavin MacLeod

This is the video posted in memory of Gavin MacLeod, aka Captain Merrill Stubing on "The Love Boat." He was a real ambassador for cruising. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfDrn-PQkk4

Travel Scams: Beware

It is unfortunate that there are a few people who will take advantage of others by scamming them. But, it happens. With the pent up demand for travel, scammers are setting up fake web sites to get you to purchase airline tickets and other travel items. These sites...
