If you are in need of renewing your passport, or getting a new one, it has been difficult right now. This service has been suspended since March.
When will they be re-opening? Well, first it will be in phases, but when is still a question. Each area will be different, based on local conditions. So, there are no dates available, yet.
When the offices start opening, phase one will focus on “life-or-death emergency” processing first.
Phase two will continue to show delays in processing as the entire staff will still not be returning to work. Processing will be on a “first in, first out” basis, starting with the oldest applications.
Phase three will have the rest of the staff returning and will also be “first in, first out” basis. However, expedited processing will start to be offered.
So, be prepared for a long wait.
